Welcome to the Kingsborough Honors Program Blog

Welcome to the Kingsborough Honors Program Blog, a virtual community that aims to provide a forum for honors students to engage in meaningful discussion with one another on a wide range of topics. As an outlet for student dialogue, discussions throughout the blog will cover a number of issues relevant to the honors community, so as to foster a sense of connectedness through the exchange of ideas. To this end, while this blog will maintain an academically-related emphasis, other diverse themes will be explored as well (e.g., international affairs, the arts, local events and developments, etc.), and this is reflective of the philosophy of the Honors Program—a Program whose mission is not merely to cultivate superior students in the classroom but also well-rounded individuals who are engaged in extra-curricular pursuits. The motto of the Honors Program, “Responsibility to Care”, embodies this mission and speaks to the core values of the Program's teaching faculty and administrators, all of whom envision Honors Program graduates as individuals who will use their newly acquired knowledge not merely for their own personal gain but also for the advancement of others as well. It is for this reason that Kingsborough invests so thoroughly in programs that will help to promote global awareness and civic engagement, whether it's providing full scholarships for students to study abroad in Costa Rica or Austria, for example, or facilitating internships and creating opportunities for involvement right here at home.

And on that note, we encourage you to become involved in helping to make this blog a vibrant online community for honors students. Be an active contributor by respectfully sharing your thoughts with everyone and appreciating what others have to offer. By working together, the Kingsborough Honors Program Blog will serve as a platform for all of us to learn from one another.
